JPS Health Network is redefining primary care by creating environments that inspire innovation and build patient trust. To meet the growing needs of the community, JPS recently opened Medical Home Southwest Tarrant – a thoughtfully designed facility that expands access to comprehensive, patient centered care. The new site now houses the relocated South Campus Health Center, offering a broader range of services in a welcoming environment.
"I have been her patient for a long time, and I don’t want any other doctor. She’s it."
The move created new opportunities for patients to continue receiving care that best fits their needs—whether by transitioning to a different medical home or staying with their current provider at the new Medical Home Southwest Tarrant, a hub for expert primary care. For patient Theressa King, the choice to stay with Dr. Anjali Kumar, DO, Family Medicine Physician, was an easy one. Having been under Dr. Kumar’s expert care for years, King recognized the value of working with a provider who truly understands her health journey.
“I have high blood pressure, and I am a diabetic. Dr. Kumar helps me with anything I need to maintain my health and well-being,” King said. “She also listens to me, and I talk to Dr. Kumar like she’s my sister. I have been her patient for a long time, and I don’t want any other doctor. She’s it.”
A strong patient-provider relationship is the foundation of effective, proactive healthcare, and Dr. Kumar has witnessed firsthand the importance of continuity of care. Many of her patients have followed her to Medical Home Southwest, a testament to the trusted, expert care she provides.
“I have mentioned other clinics to patients, but many have insisted on coming here,” Dr. Kumar said. “That kind of commitment is humbling. It makes you realize the trust and confidence patients place in their primary care provider.”
The unwavering trust that patients have in Dr. Kumar highlights the impact of personalized, long-term care. This trust is cultivated through compassionate communication, early intervention, and comprehensive treatment. Dr. Kumar’s role extends beyond addressing immediate health concerns; she proactively manages chronic conditions, ensures preventative screenings, and provides reassurance during uncertain health challenges. Her commitment to treating the whole patient empowers individuals to live healthier, fuller lives.
“It is very important to talk to your doctor about anything in life, and Dr. Kumar always makes sure she listens to me,” King said. “I know if I call and leave a message, she will get back to me. That means everything when you’re dealing with ongoing health issues.”
Dr. Kumar emphasizes that maintaining a long-term relationship with a dedicated provider leads to better health outcomes.
“If a patient sees me regularly, I can catch changes early,” said Dr. Kumar. “For example, blood pressure can slowly creep up, and the body adjusts, so the patient may not notice. But if left unchecked, it can lead to kidney damage or other complications. Regular visits help us diagnose and treat conditions before they become severe.”
Beyond medical treatment, continuity of care allows physicians to gain deeper insight into their patients’ lives, helping them provide holistic, personalized care. By understanding the unique stressors that impact health, Dr. Kumar empowers patients with resources and support that extend beyond routine visits. For many, including King, staying with Dr. Kumar is not just about having a doctor; it’s about maintaining a trusted relationship that ensures their well-being for many years.
